Art from Oak Ridge's History

Welcome! Enjoy the handpainted Oak Ridge Billboards and signs of artist Edward Dougherty

Edward Dougherty's artistic signs and billboards

James Dougherty has 30 photographs of Edward Dougherty's art scanned from his mother’s scrapbook.  Some of the scans date from wartime, but most are post-war security billboards, some Museum of Atomic Energy boards, and some of work his dad did for Oak Ridge businesses. As a teenager (about 1953-1958) James worked summers in his Dad’s shop (Park Sign Company in Warehouse B12) and can remember old security boards nailed to the walls there in storage.

Those images are placed on this web site for your viewing pleasure.  - Ray Smith
