The Partnership for K-25 Preservation is a joint venture of the Oak Ridge Heritage & Preservation Association and the Atomic Heritage Foundation with primary focus on preserving the national treasure of the K-25 Gaseous Diffusion Plant's contribution to the Manhattan Project, the winning of the Cold War and other uses of Uranium. PURPOSE: The PKP was formed to serve as the focal point for interpretation of the unique history of the K-25 Gaseous Diffusion Plant in Oak Ridge, TN, and to preserve a portion of the original K-25 Building a Manhattan Project Signature Facility. The S-50 Thermal Diffusion Plant, Wheat and the Happy Valley stories have been added. The site is now being planned as a major Heritage Tourism destination site within the Heritage Tourism Implementation Plan of the Oak Ridge Convention and Visitors Bureau. SCOPE: K-25 Gaseous Diffusion Plant's K-25 Building, interpretation of the K-25 Gaseous Diffusion Plant, S-50 Thermal Diffusion Plant, pre-Manhattan Project community of Wheat and K-25 construction community of Happy Valley.
