Oak Ridge ~ Then & Now – a collection of historic Oak Ridge images

The book sells for $15 and may be purchased directly from the ORHPA or in several local businesses (listed below). If mailed, shipping costs will be additional. The large book of 58 photographs and brief descriptions is dedicated with much appreciation to local yet world-renowned photographer Ed Westcott. Ed is the Oak Ridge photographer who began his career during the first days of the Manhattan Project and continued to serve as the only photographer the Atomic Energy Agency used in Oak Ridge for many years until he advanced to more prominence at its Washington headquarters office. Upon retiring Ed returned to Oak Ridge and has graciously allowed his excellent photographs to be used by many to promote the rich history of Oak Ridge.
The ORHPA is proud to honor Ed and to provide a collection of photographs that represent a broad range of interesting and somewhat unusual aspects of our city’s history. As so many more historic images exist that could be used, a second volume of Oak Ridge ~ Then & Now is already being considered.
The Oak Ridge Heritage and Preservation Association meets monthly at the Midtown Community Center on the first Thursday evening of each month at 6:00 PM. Anyone interesting in preserving and celebrating our unique heritage in Oak Ridge should drop by and join our efforts. This latest book is published in the tradition of the very popular ORHPA Cookbook and Calendars produced over the years. You may contact ORHPA at 481-0542.
