Minutes – ORHPA Membership Meeting December 13, 2007

Heidi Miller.
The meeting began at 6:10 p.m. in the Wildcat Den room of the Midtown Community
Center. President, Keith McDaniel presided at the meeting. There were 32 people
present (see attachment 1 on file.)
Keith McDaniel thanked Bobbie Martin and Anne McBride for managing preparations
for the pot-luck dinner this evening.
Lloyd Stokes, Chairman of the Nominating Committee, discussed the process the
committee went through to bring the nominations for six positions on the 2008
Board of Directors to the membership.
Keith McDaniel presented Judy Clevenger and Lloyd Stokes with award plaques for
serving six years each on the ORHPA Board of Directors. An award plaque for
Kathy Moore who has also served six years on the ORHPA Board of Directors will
be given to her at a later date. The award reads, “Award of Recognition and
Grateful Appreciation - For devoted volunteer service on the Board of Directors
of the Oak Ridge Heritage and Preservation Association from 2002 to 2007.” Judy
and Lloyd both received applause from the membership in attendance. Judy, who
has also been doing a very fine job of serving as the Building Coordinator for
our rental events has very graciously agreed to continue serving in the
position, and we are very pleased and grateful to her for continuing to do so.
Keith McDaniel also made a special presentation to member, Bill Wilcox. Bill was
presented with an award plaque in honor of his receiving a lifetime membership
in ORHPA. The award to Bill reads, “Award of Lifetime Membership Given in
Recognition and Grateful Appreciation – For devoted volunteer service to the
Preservation of Oak Ridge Heritage and for serving as the City of Oak Ridge,
Official Historian.” Bill received a standing applause from the membership in
attendance along with the award.
Keith McDaniel asked for nominations from the floor for members to serve on the
2008 ORHPA Board of Directors. Nominations for the six people recommended by the
Nominating Committee were submitted by Lloyd Stokes. The six people were
Margaret Allard, Mick Wiest, and Betty Stokes to serve three years, Dave Miller,
Anne McBride and Sheila Hutchison to serve two years. Dave Miller, Anne McBride
and Sheila Hutchison have all served one year to date.
C. J. Maddux made a motion that we vote by voice for the six board members
recommended by the Nominating Committee since no others were nominated from the
floor at the meeting. Susan Gawarecki seconded the motion. The motion passed and
the six people were voted to the 2008 ORHPA Board of Directors by acclimation,
as proposed by the Nominating Committee.
The new Board Members and current Board Members adjourned to the Heritage Room
to elect officers for 2008.
As the ORHPA Board Members returned to the Wildcat Den Room to join the rest of
the membership for the pot-luck dinner, Keith McDaniel announced the new
officers for 2008. The new 2008 ORHPA Officers are President, Keith McDaniel,
Vice-President, Dave Miller, Treasurer, Sheila Hutchison and Secretary, Anne
McBride.
The meeting adjourned at 6:45 p.m.
